BROCCOLI & CANCER PREVENTION
by Roberta Gonzales
October 14, 2009
Cancer prevention seems to be on everybody’s heart nowadays. The term “chemoprevention” means the use of chemical agents, drugs, or food supplements to prevent the development of cancer.(1)
Current research study conducted in October 2009(3) suggested results that the enzyme rich juice of cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower and brussel sprouts have very potent chemopreventive properties. The particular study focused on human breast cancer cells and found significant reduction in cancer cell growth when exposed to broccoli juice.
Here is a list of vegetables and other foods that have been found to have chemopreventive properties. (2)
A varied number of neutraceuticals are in the market today. But your best bet in getting all that protection is having a diet rich with a variety of foods especially vegetables.
